Chinchilla FC had a fantastic start to their 2025 campaign over the weekend, with both the U13s and Senior Men’s teams taking on the Dalby Tigers in a series of high-energy friendlies.
U13s Shine in a Confident Victory
Our U13s kicked off their pre-season with an impressive 4-1 win over Dalby, showcasing their attacking flair and defensive resilience. Kevin Savage led the charge with two goals, while Chad Cahill and Jacob Blanchard each added to the scoresheet. Cahill was a standout in both midfield and attack, while Cooper Rixon put in a rock-solid defensive performance to keep Dalby’s forwards at bay.
This result is a promising sign as the age group prepares for their inaugural season in the FQDD Toowoomba League, with a team nominated in both the JLeague and Community 1 Divisions.
Senior Men Battle to a 3-2 Victory
Even in a friendly match, there was no holding back as the Bears faced the Tigers in a thrilling 3-2 win.
Fans were treated to end-to-end football, a rollercoaster of emotions with a disallowed goal, and plenty of excitement from start to finish.
Brad Thompson was the star of the show, netting two classy goals, while Jonty Calleja found his name on the scoresheet after delivering a superb free-kick goal to help secure the victory.
Although a number of veteran players took to the field for the Bears, the friendly provided a great opportunity for our youngest players to step up and test themselves at the senior level—and they rose to the occasion.
With plenty of positives to take into the season, both teams have set a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting year for Chinchilla FC.
